Five for Friday- Week 2

This second week of school has been a little crazy. Read all about it in my Five for Friday! I've linked up with Doodle Bugs Teaching once again! I just love this linky:)
I am getting ready to introduce my interactive notebooks! It is hard to let go of those perfect, nonbent, notebooks. They are beautifully labeled, expertly yarned (for a bookmark), and amazingly stacked in my baskets. I can't wait for the kids to start using them, but I want them to stay as nice as possible! I have been keeping up with the interactive notebooks posts by my friend Angie Olson at Mrs. Olson's Lucky Little Learners. She sure has some awesome tips on getting started. I am going to start by introducing my rubric.
We finished our first reading story, Henry and Mudge. I just love Henry and Mudge books, and the kids really enjoyed the story too. We made retelling dog collars and leashes to help tell the story! These came from Amy Lemons at Step into Second with Mrs. Lemons. I just love all of her stuff! She is awesome!

We broke ground on our new house!!!!! I am so excited!
This was the first dig! Below is me in front of our walk out basement. Our ground is a lot of sand so they had to dig extra in case of a fall in! I can't wait to see what will happen with it tomorrow!!
I almost have 1,000 likes on our Facebook page!!! How awesome!! Thanks to all of you who like us! If you aren't one of them, click the picture to start!
Remember that pencil sharpener I was telling you about? Well I get to give one away for free!! You even get to pick your color! I am going to wait until back to school madness settles down, but be sure to read my review! You will for sure want to enter!
Be sure to check out Doodle Bugs Teaching to see how everyone else's week has went! I hope yours has went well too!

  1. I love your Interactive Notebook rubric. The kids and I brainstormed this very thing today! I love the real examples so I think I'll add that to my anchor chart on Monday. We also had a big talk (again) about glue! I also love Mrs. Olson's tips and her products! I am also in desperate need of a sharpener so I am going to enter your contest FOR SURE! Have a great 3rd week!

    1. Thanks! My class made sharks yesterday and this girl asked me if her coloring was a 3 star! I loved that she remembered and was worried about her coloring!(It was a 3 star of course):)

  2. How exciting about your new house!! When will it be done? When I saw your Henry and Mudge pictures, it brought back memories to when I taught second grade 16 years ago! Thanks!

    1. I am so excited about the house! It will be done around the beginning of January, as long as the weather cooperates!
